Growing skills, Building Self-belief

I offer Intergrative Learning Therapy in:
-
English for mothertongue and non-mothertongue learners
-
German for children who are non-native speakers or who are growing up learning to read and write in multiple languages. (Please click on the DE tab above if you would like to read more about my services in German.)
-
Maths, Focus and Concentration both in English and in German
Every learner is different
That's why the process of Integrative Learning Therapy begins with in-depth qualitative diagnostics. During our first month of lessons, as we get to know each other, I learn about your child's strengths and interests, which skills are underdeveloped and make learning harder, how they manage that at present and what positive changes they look forward to as those skills develop. I meet with learners and parents to get a full picture of the areas of strength and weakness and we plan a bespoke program to meet your specific needs together. Integrative Learning Therapy offers tailored support, not only ideal for learners who already have a diagnosis such as Dyslexia or Dyscalculia, but also for those looking for individual help conquering any pattern of challenges in reading, spelling, maths or classroom skills.
New solutions
By the time learners come to me, they have usually experienced struggling in a mainstream classroom. Many have tried subject tutoring, repeating work, extra homework time or homework support and become frustrated, leading to a growing sense of failure and hopelessness. The way we work in Learning Therapy will not be more of the same. Exercises are designed to address foundational gaps in skills and understanding and to engage the brain in building new pathways and connections specific to you.
From success comes confidence
Small steps are planned so that learners regularly experience the glow of success. Sessions are designed to build motivation, stamina and resilience, through the experience of empathy and personal growth.
Advocacy and collaboration
As a British expat and German immigrant myself, I have traveled the path from beginner to competency in a second language. I have worked with bilingual children for many years and recognize the specific difficulties that can sometimes arise when identifying underlying weaknesses independent of the challenges in the second language. My responsibilities also include acting as an advocate for your child and family, and collaborating with teachers and other professionals who may be involved in your child's development (e.g. speech therapists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, etc.) to ensure that we are all working together to achieve the best outcome for your child.
